Luna

Luna was a tiny kitten when we got her, and C.R.A.Z.Y. like you wouldn't believe. We had never seen a more destructive kitten. She chewed on everything -- especially wires. I can't tell you how many times we had to splice the Christmas tree lights the first couple years we had her. We also lost the adapter cord on our expensive, cordless phone. Thankfully, she outgrew her destructive ways, but she's still just a touch crazy and has consequently had more than a few close calls with death (of her own doing!). Despite all of this, we love Luna very much. She was the first pet we got as a married couple, and she will always have a special place in our hearts.
Quincy

Scott and I have always been cat lovers. Since I had a cat when we met, I was thrilled to learn that Scott loved them as much as I did. I grew up with dogs, but he had limited exposure to them. Shortly after we bought our first house, I wanted to get a dog. Scott wasn't overly crazy about the idea, but he agreed to get one on the condition that it would stay outside (ha!). Long story short, we got a dog, I fell in love with him, and Scott did, too... a year and half later. The main point is that now we're both as much dog people as we are cat people, and Quincy is the one who changed that. He truly is about as perfect as a dog can get. He has stolen our hearts forever.
Gidget

Gidget was a pretty normal kitten, and grew up to be fairly normal, 8-pound, fluffy cat. She does have a couple unique quirks, though... First, she plays fetch. Not with just any object, though. She likes the little plastic caps that cover the pump on a hairspray bottle. I can't remember how we discovered this, but now we make sure we have a stash of them on hand. The other thing she likes to do is play with balloons. We discovered this after Scott brought home a helium balloon for me one Valentine's Day, which she quickly claimed as her own. She'd jump in the air repeatedly until she had successfully caught the dangling ribbon, and then proudly dragged it around the house, from room to room, until she was completely exhausted. When we have a balloon in the house, we periodically have to hide it from her so that she doesn't wear herself out!
Milo
After we'd had Quincy for a couple years, we decided he needed a canine companion. The search for a 2nd dog wasn't easy. It was a process of trial and error, but we finally found Milo on Petfinder.com, and he's been a perfect fit! I call Milo my clown dog because he makes me laugh on a daily basis. He loves to cuddle, and will crawl right up in your lap if you'll let him. All 50 pounds of him. Our best guess on his breeding is that he's a Basset Hound/Brittany Spaniel mix. His Basset blood means his nose is always working. He's proven to be an excellent mole hunter! The only unfortunate thing is that he has a lot joint issues due to his strange breeding, and we've spent countless dollars on treatments, drugs, and prescription dog food. But the joy he gives us makes him worth every penny.
Fern
Our sweet Fern-girl came to us shortly after we moved to Florida. We were living in an apartment complex that was overrun with feral cats... Most of them were 100% wild and
afraid of people, except for this one orange tiger. We had seen her a few times, but knew we couldn't take in another cat since we would be renting indefinitely. One evening when we were out walking, she practically followed us home, so I caved and brought her in. We found out she had already been declawed and spayed, so she used to belong to someone, but had clearly been abandoned. We really didn't need another cat, but I guess she needed
us... and perhaps we needed her after all.
